This was our first – and hopefully last – adventure building a home. In retrospect, it was a wonderful experience. With the build finally finished and the decorating started, it’s time for us to rejoice and rest a bit. OK, we’ll just rejoice…

We chose a very expensive time to build a new home and, in retrospect, wish we had been smarter about several of the details (e.g., more storage space), but that’s “water over the dam” now.
The design works perfectly for our property, with a large porch and deck in the rear overlooking the pond and one of our pastures. From the deck, we get a great view of the sheep grazing, half of our chickens and bee hives. On a good day, we hope to get a clean shot during deer season, but that may be wishful thinking.
The interior turned out quite well, with an open floor plan and master on main. Christi has a large walk-in pantry and an adequately sized laundry area right off the kitchen.
Our only wish was that we built a larger eating area. It’s fine most days, but gets crowded when friends and family visit. The lesson here is to ALWAYS listen to your wife. Christi tried to tell me it was going to be too small before we even started. We love the vaulted ceilings and large window area for both the views and abundance of natural light.
We’re grateful for Scotty Vaughn’s oversight and the good work of many capable tradesmen. Moreover, we’re grateful to Our Lord for his provision and blessing. It’s a privilege to live so comfortably on this property!
